Luxiface Ingredient Intelligence

Caffeine

Caffeine is used in eye and scalp formulas for temporary de-puffing, antioxidant and scalp-conditioning support.

Eye & Scalp Care Evidence: Supportive

Ingredient overview

What is Caffeine?

Caffeine is a methylxanthine used in both scalp and eye-area cosmetics. It can penetrate skin and hair follicles, and topical hair-loss research has focused on possible effects on follicular biology and hair growth.

A recent systematic review found generally favorable results for topical caffeine hair products, but most trials were low or very-low certainty. Under-eye products containing caffeine may temporarily improve the appearance of puffiness in multi-ingredient formulas, but those studies do not isolate caffeine as the sole cause.

Routine guidance

How to use it

Eye products should be applied as directed and kept out of the eyes. Scalp tonics or shampoos should follow the brand's contact-time and frequency instructions.

Pairing guidance

Routine compatibility

Caffeine is generally compatible with peptides, niacinamide, antioxidants and common scalp-care ingredients.

Good to know

Evidence for hair growth is promising but not definitive, and under-eye studies often use multi-ingredient formulas. Caffeine skincare should not be treated as a substitute for medical evaluation of persistent hair loss or eye swelling.
