Ingredient overview

What is Glutathione?

Glutathione is a naturally occurring tripeptide involved in cellular antioxidant systems. Topical glutathione has been studied in cosmetic and dermatologic formulations for antioxidant and pigmentation-related effects, but it is more difficult to formulate and deliver effectively than its marketing popularity may suggest.

Small clinical trials suggest topical forms may improve some pigmentation and oxidative-stress measures, but systematic reviews still describe the evidence as limited and heterogeneous. Luxiface therefore treats glutathione as a supportive brightening antioxidant rather than a guaranteed skin-lightening active.

Routine guidance

How to use it

Use topical glutathione products according to their directions. For uneven tone, consistent sunscreen and a complete pigmentation routine matter more than one ingredient alone.

Pairing guidance

Routine compatibility

Topical glutathione can be combined with niacinamide, vitamin C, tranexamic acid and other antioxidant or brightening ingredients when the formula is tolerable.

Good to know

Evidence for topical glutathione remains limited. This page concerns cosmetic topical use and does not endorse intravenous glutathione for cosmetic skin lightening.
