Ingredient overview

What is Adenosine?

Adenosine is a naturally occurring nucleoside involved in cellular signaling and energy-related biology. It is widely used in Korean functional cosmetics, particularly in wrinkle-care formulations, and appears in many creams, serums and eye products.

Human studies of adenosine-containing creams and delivery systems have reported improvements in wrinkle-related measures, although product design and delivery affect outcomes. Adenosine is best understood as a supportive age-care ingredient rather than a retinoid-equivalent treatment.

Good to know

Published outcomes often concern specific adenosine formulations or delivery systems, so the presence of adenosine alone does not predict the size of a wrinkle benefit.
